Vacation day 1

We just woke up in Iwakuni for the first full day of our vacation. We’re less jetlagged than I thought we would be. We were so tuckered out when we got here that we didn’t have any trouble sleeping through the whole night, despite it being daytime in Arkansas. We could hardly stay awake on the rest of the train ride home last night, which made for challenging travel on the third train, since our seats were in the assigned “silence car”. The “silence car” must remain silent, so no announcements are made when you are nearing your stop, which is troublesome when you find that you’ve dozed off and are not sure how long you’ve been sleeping. Nevertheless, we made it to Iwakuni around 9 PM local time and Steven came and picked us up.

It’s going to take a bit to get used to riding on the left side of the road and being in the opposite side of the car. Luckily, we don’t intend on renting a car and plan to only be passengers, which will make the conversion back to US travel a little easier.

We had fun hanging out with Steven and Leah and meeting Zach, who is sooooo cute. We will enjoy staying here for a few more days and are grateful to Steven and Leah for letting us stay with them. Words cannot describe how great it felt to brush my teeth when we finally got here last night!!
