Safe Arrival in London

We arrived safely in London this morning after a wonderfully uneventful flight. We’re jetlagged and already sore from all the walking, but otherwise off to a good start. We’re adamant that we try to acclimate to the destination time zone ASAP, so we’ve kept ourselves awake today by visiting the British Museum and British Library.

Today’s Highlights:

  • Dropping off our luggage at the hotel
    • If your husband ever asks if you have room in your suitcase for 8 guidebooks and some camera equipment, be skeptical – even if he insists there will be minimal stairs to get to your hotel
  • A hot cup of coffee
  • Various shiny objects at the very crowded British Museum
  • A hot shower and fresh clothing
  • Less shiny but equally impressive artifacts at the much quieter British Library, including the (final draft of) the Magna Carta and a Gutenberg Bible
  • Outstanding Indian food

Tomorrow’s Proposed Adventure(s):

  • A walking tour of Westminster… backwards?
  • A stroll through Westminster Abbey
  • Coronation Afternoon Tea at Westminster Abbey
  • Taking a train to Liverpool
