Last Full Day in France

Today was our last full day in France. We’ve had the trip of a lifetime, but we’re also perhaps running out of steam. We slept in this morning and ate a leisurely breakfast in the apartment before heading out for some serious shopping. We went first to the market at Cours Saleya in search of good Nicoise olive oil and a couple of gifts. We made a stop at the Fragonard shop to buy the perfume that Becky had been contemplated. Next was the wine shop to purchase a few bottles of things that Becky had enjoyed (or meant to try but ran out of time). We finished by strolling through old town and popping into shops here and there for a few smaller mementos.

Eventually, Becky began to feel burdened both physically and emotionally from the weight of her purchases, so we decided it was wise to return the apartment to rest and do some light packing and cleaning in preparation for our return flight home tomorrow. Knowing that we’d likely want to bring back souvenirs, we both had brought an empty collapsible duffel bag with us, which we seem to be putting to good use. It looks like we should be able to fit everything we brought and everything we bought, but Becky is preparing to drink a bottle of rosé on the way to the airport, if need be.

We rested for a while in the afternoon, venturing out to check out one last cathedral and get some ice cream from Fenocchio. We hit the beach in the early evening for one last relaxing swim, soaking up the sound of the tide sifting through the pebbles on the beach. If you put your ears under water, you can actually hear the pebbles tapping into each other and it’s a magical sound. We wrapped up the night with our leftover pizza and packing.

Today’s Highlights

  • Finding everything on our shopping list (plus a few bonus items)
  • Confidence that our purchased items would fit in our luggage
  • Ice cream from Fenocchio

  • Not getting pick-pocketed

Tomorrow’s Proposed Adventures
