“Woke up” on the train at about 6 and got ready for breakfast as we were pulling into London Euston train station. We had our breakfast pretty leisurely then returned to the room to finish packing up and to head to our hotel for the rest of the trip to drop off our luggage. We had originally decided to do a walk on the south bank of the Thames but decided on seeing the tower to see about tickets for touring it and seeing the crown jewels. Luckily there were tickets for 930am, unfortunately that was an hour and a half from the present. We killed some time in a cafe then walking around and finally a little after 9 just decided to head in. They let us in so we proceeded straight for the crown jewels which Becky had never seen. According to a lady in the crowd the exhibition had just reopened which makes sense as some of the items had been in use a few weeks ago. It was pretty crowded as always but we got through and then decided to tour the ramparts and several exhibitions in the corner towers including one about the prisoners and an interesting one on all the animals that were there for hundreds of years. After the tower we walked up to London Bridge and crossed to the south bank and proceeded on another Rick Steve’s walk along the south shore. The highlights were the Southwark Cathedral and its Shakespeare memorial and stained glass window, the Borough Market (i had salt beef sandwich and latkes and Becky had a lamb kebab wrap), the globe theater reproduction and the millennium bridge. We also ducked into the Tate Modern and saw a few Picasso works but Becky and i were tired and not that into modern art at the moment so we kept it short and headed back to the hotel for a nap before our show this evening. After waking up and getting as fancied up as i get (Becky on the other hand was stunning) we caught our bus to the theater district and it dropped us off a few blocks away so we started to look for a semi casual dinner spot. As we approached the intersection our entire view was taken up by a Slim Chickens so we knew where we were eating dinner!

It was good though i am not sure the franchise recipe for Slim’s sauce quite made the transition to UK ingredients or something. The meal itself definitely hit the spot. We continued through the edge of Chinatown to our theater about a block or 2 off Picadilly Circus. We are seeing Moulin Rouge at Picadilly Theater!

We headed in as the bar for our seating area was open. We had gotten there before the crowd and got seats at the bar and just enjoyed our drinks and the piano music while the crowd rolled in.

That was Spectacular, Spectacular! Thanks to our buds Harley and Kate for the suggestion. It was so fun and I love the new music though I admit this old man didn’t catch on to many until the hook. Just got home at 11p and we have an early day tomorrow for a tour so signing off for now.
